'Inspiration'

Quick thing here...

Has anyone ever noticed how random Inspiration is?
The fact that you could have a million awesome ideas, and the time.
But nothing comes from it... Then, on a whim you go off and create
something out of thin air because you were randomly inspired to do
so?

Result:
RAVENCLAW SNOBBERY

Have a comic.
A gift from me - to you.
and you.
and you.
and you.

But not you, you're just vain.
(I bet you think this song is about you)

....

Okay
It's time for bed....

Blinking

Forgot to post this, sorry!

Tools: Photoshop CS5

Done with a handful of frames and around 20 odd layers, it's not so much that the animaton was dificult - just tedious to modify the timing between the frames and the use of layers to change the image instead of the flash system that allows you to edit the frames each time.

Time: Around 30 minutes, 20 of which was doing frames.

Outcome:
I prefer to use flash for animation that spans over a few seconds, because photoshop would be ... horrible for animating anything you may need to alter in the future. Layers, layers, layers, layers, layers....

Animation History & Seedy Cubes

Subject: Ray Harryhausen
Ray Harryhausen works in special effects animation (or Stop Motion Animation) on several films including [1933] King Kong and his first colour film [1958] The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

Additional Question:
"Why Monsters?"
I believe that monsters are used because of their anthromorphic qualities allowing the animators to both humanize their emotions and movements as well as de-humanize and villanize them in other projects - a good example of this would be using real world conflict (eg: World War Two) and then represting a monster threat to the world of your animation that is clearly a representation of the Nazi Party of germany, but by not using humans to portray them they're utilizing a form of propaganda in the sense of de-humanizing them and their actions further and the audience in response feeling more intense emotion (be that positive or negative) towards the characters.

BONUS FEATURE: SEEDY CUBES

You're looking for the part just after 25 seconds.
Don't you think these cubes are acting a little too excited to see each other?

Assuming all of the square patterns are animate cubes, i feel sorry for those between the offenders of this questionable 'seedy' glance.

Desired connotation: "Oh hey."
Actual connotation: "Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy." *wink*

Bonus: Ditto Trainer

Oh come on, you should have seen this one coming. :)

Jane asked me today to work more on putting in additional colours besides the flats in these quick-chibi's I've been doing, took a little bit longer but not that much really in the grand scheme of things.

Off to sleep now.

DC Universe Online

Most of you don't know it - yet - but I am a pretty big fan of the whole superhero/villain concept, so naturally I'd be drawn towards DC Universe Online. However I'm sure a few of you have not seen the AMAZING 3D work in these videos before and you should. =)

I can confidently say this is some of, if not the best, work in 3D i've ever seen.

Witty First Post Title

Hello,

My name is Tom and I am a first year animation student.

Generally I find that i am drawn to the weirder type of animations and artists, this ranges from Tim Burtons ability to make perfectly innocent stories morbid and dark to very strange and ranom animations such as Superjail (as seen below)

I tend to lean towards anime style art and animations, such as "The girl who leapt through time" and "spirited away"

I also enjoy a lot of the pixar animated films, with my recent obession being "Despicable Me" as well as some less famous creations as the "Dead Fantasy" series my Montyoum as linked below.

I like to watch 2D and 3D animation films as well as stop motion projects, etc. My deviantART account is linked above as an RSS feed.

Examples of animation I admire:
